How to Become a Member

If you wish to become a member of Saint John's parish, you should contact the Rector and arrange for a visit with him in person.

If you have never been baptized, the Rector will ask you to go through a period of study and training in preparation for your baptism. Normally, baptisms are reserved for The Great Vigil of Easter, The Feast of Pentecost, The Sunday after All Saints' Day, and The Baptism of Our Lord Jesus Christ (the first Sunday after the Epiphany).

If you have been baptized and have been active in a non-Episcopal Church, the Rector will ask that you undergo a period of instruction so that you can learn more about the Episcopal Church before you make a commitment to become an Episcopalian. Once each year the Rector offers a class for all adult inquirers. Normally, these classes are scheduled nine weeks prior to the visit of the Diocesan Bishop. When the Bishop visits, adults are asked to renew publicly their baptismal vows, receive the laying on hands by the Bishop, and commit themselves to living out their Christian life in the Episcopal Church.

If you are already an Episcopalian but are a member of another parish, you should contact the Rector and request that he write your former parish and request a letter of transfer. Once your former parish has sent the necessary forms, your name will added to Saint John's Parish Register.
